:) got to love it That's a great Styx song...LovinDa and I talked alot about Styx she was a big Tommy Shaw fan
Another great offering from Styx
They went 'down hill' after "Babe" and "Mr Roboto" convinced Dennis DeYoung he didn't need the other band members when they protested his direction away from the rock and roll they were performing.

RE: Classic rock
No music to share, but a "tale" that may make a few of you smile (or wince, I'm not sure which).
There is a theater in the U-District (University District) in Seattle called The Neptune. It used to be a movie theater. A few years ago, it closed for movies, but was purchased and renovated for live performances (good plan!). In May 2012 one of those performances was by Lindsey Buckingham
A few days before this performance a large group from my office all went out to lunch for some occasion, and as we were coming back, waiting at an intersection for the light to change, one of my co-workers (a very musical guy) noticed the sign at The Neptune and made some comment, to which another, much younger co-worker replied "Who's Lindsey Buckingham?" For a very brief moment, I thought her life might be in danger (from the first co-worker, not me).
As young as she is, I'm hard pressed to believe that she hasn't heard of Fleetwood Mac.

I had forgot all about it.. entirely. I need to get it.. I think it's my favorite song again !
Rick Wakeman is insane on the keyboards.. he's classically trained.. I think they had a classical piece on one of their albums too.
Rock jam band...intricate music.. I love(d) it!
Here you go Tom..."Roundabout" is the first song on one of the all time great albums of the 70's, Yes' Fragile...you can listen to it here before you buy
Thanks Tusk..
I had that album... listening to your link I remember every song burned into my mind. I'm not sure when I bought it... probably 79. I must have put it on tape and listened to it a lot when running with my sony walkman that I bought in Japan before they were really released here in 1980 (free exchange program trip I took sponsored by the Rotary club) More memories.
I will repurchase it on CD before they get rid of CD's.
About 15 vinyl albums have made it through all my moves .. rescued a few when my mom was throwing them out. Unfortunately I didn't grab Fragile evidently. Genesis trick of the tale was there which I know I bought at the same time. I had grabbed a few of my mom's Beatles albums and a Jackson 5 album I probably bought. Cheech and Chong's wedding album. Two Chicago albums i know I bought. Lost my Queen albums and Some Girls rolling stones along with fragile , neil sedaka and a bunch of others. I do have two of Chicago's .
I've got Blondie and billy idol but no Madness or Stray-cats. damn. Also lost "Tommy" (who) but somehow have an ABBA record I don't think I ever listened to. Got my Iconic Framton comes alive and Framtons Camel and just plain Frampton. Credence Cleerwater albums were gon (and I wore them out) but somehow I have a George Straight album..
I've got a scratched up Rodney Allen album without a cover.. wonder who he is.

RE: Classic rock
LOL Now I'm curious...which ABBA album?
Odds are it was either "Arrival" or "ABBA, the Album"...My bet is it's Arrival
I have remnants of my large record collection too... I don't know what happened to most of them, probably 'borrowed' by friends over the years...
Are Chicago considered classic rock? I used to love listening to them... I believe my first slow dance with a girl in AZ was to "Colour My World"
They had some Great tunes...
With the Beach Boys
Old Days
Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

ABBA album is Voulez - Vous
I don't think Chicago is "classic rock" ... Did they call things Soft Rock back then or was that an 80's term ? I don't know that it is even rock... neil Sedaka and Burt Bacharach couldn't be called rock ,could they ? Chicago is probably closer to them. Wow....late(ish) ABBA. I'm surprised because I think their popularity was waning in the US at that time ('79)...they broke up(unofficially) in '81-'82 I think
I think Chicago was considered classic rock until Terry Kath one of their lead singers (along with Peter Cetera), guitar player and driving force died from a gun accident in '78. They became more 'soft rock' once Peter Cetera took over the direction in the '80's
As the "Chicago Transit Authority", they definitely started off as a rock group
Peter Cetera turned them into this
Which was 'soft rock'. While definitely making them more money, by this time, they had left rock and roll far behind....

I probably didn't start buying albums much before 79 .. although I probably sprung for Frampton comes alive in 1978 . I hadn't worked enough at sufficient wages when I was 12 to buy one. I did have a bunch of 45's that I'd play on a little plastic all in one turntable.
Captain and Teneil.. Kung Fu fighting, Reinstone Cowboy, Rumble in the Jungle, The night Chicago Died .. lol great songs for a 10 year old buying 45s in 1976 ish
