The third time was a charm for Candice. Is she the first Idol winner to have tried out before? What a wonderful outcome for her persistence...never, never give up!

Speaking of lip-syncing...was Frankie Valli singing a different song then everyone else, because his lips were not syncing...I was worried he was having a stroke.

I think that Candice's win puts a definite positive exclamation point at the end of an overall less than stellar year for Idol.Considering alot of the negativity about the show this year and then considering the level of her performances throughout the competition and the emotional pull of her journey it seemed like Idol somehow needed it to turn out this way.

Just makes me wish we got a Haley/Adam duet. I don't know that there are two people who know how to duet as well as those two.

I thought all of the girls did pretty well last night--except for maybe Amber-but that might have been the song more than anything else.

Its more than I can say for alot of the rest of the night.As for Mariah how big of a prima donna do you have to be to actually prerecord your feature from another location.I guess she's
worried that she might actually mess up her hair if she actually walked on stage.Or has it been too long since she's performed live and she's lost confidence? Others may lip synch but at least they're actually there on the theater.I used to have alot of respect for her but she's gone too far into diva land for me to take her seriously.

Yes Kaypea...my opinion of Mariah Carey dropped every week as the season went on to the point of me screaming at the TV to zip it Mariah!

I think I enjoyed Janelle's Duet with the Band Perry best last night.

Yea, Janelle was awesome too. I agree, all the girls were great except Amber. And Amber still outsang Emile.

Could not believe how cheesy the guys were in their group numbers. The choreography was hilariously stiff and none of the guys seemed to have any kind of rhythm/coordination....were the background dancers/singers behind them a distraction in case 'someone' *ahem*Lazaro*ahem* messed up?

I admit, I didn't watch and followed along online. I might have watched 4 full episodes all season

I think that some people may want to try and pin everything about declining ratings on the judges.To be sure some of that is deserved,I think.But as far as the guys this year,I watched the auditions and alot of the early rounds and I don't remember one guy who really stood out except for reasons that had very little to do with any musical ability I saw.TBH Nicki seemed to be looking for someone like that in the early rounds but in the end,when it came to the guys I just don't think the talent pool was there.And it certainly didn't help that Lazarro made it as far as he did as far as viewers losing interest.

I'm just happy that the voters chose what I consider a standout singer-especially after five straight years of WGWG.

First let me say I have never been a Mariah fan. She always seemed to wear clothing that looked too small for her and she never looked comfortable. However, there are a few of her songs that I enjoyed.

Today my impression of Mariah is that she is very insecure but she has a lot of empathy and compassion. Her performance last night may not have been lip synced as I notice much of the audio out of sync.

Actually my theory is that her marriage and collaboration with Tommy Matolla did a number on her emotionally and she has been a little unbalanced since her subsequent nervous breakdown...
