We expected her to stay half hour tops, your planning made her so comfortable she and the Reinharts stayed 3hrs....

Halien Headquarters is presently under 2 feet of snow. Interesting that the lyric that is playing in that vine is "Why'd Ya Keep Comin' Back". Well Haley...I keep comin' back (& always will) because you're the best Idol... I've ever had the pleasure of having at my house and because you Keep Comin' Back to Wheeling. I hope that never ends.

BTW...It is very likely that the Wheeling Park District will pay whatever it costs to get Haley & Midnight to perform at the Grand Opening of the Heritage Park bandshell-amphitheatre (next to where Haley use to work) late spring, early summer 2014... Halien Shindig #2 anyone?

After all the "big changes" at Idol...we still have to be subjected to the ridiculous Group Round...and how cruel is Idol to take the contestants straight from the LA airport to a hangar so they can send 30-40 of them back home on the same day? A golden ticket nightmare, or is that just another form of a golden shower?

Sorry that Melanie didn't make it through.Never even got to hear her sing again.Honestly-even after watching everyone tonight her audition performance is the only one that sticks out for me.

Wow, kaypea, while I'm sorry for you that your favorite didn't make it through, I'm surprised ... because I'm not really surprised that she's gone. I was completely underwhelmed by her audition. And I still think she resembles Bernadette Peters (right down to the kewpie doll mouth) more than Haley. Musically, I found her completely unimpressive.

I really liked Jess after her audition..but the group round really turned me off. If you can't work with anyone, it's probably you. But at the same time, I have to remember how this show manipulates..

"If you can't work with anyone, it's probably you." Probably, but not always.

Mercfan, I didn't care for Jessica's audition any more than I did Melanie's. (I didn't, at all, like the song that she wrote/sang.) But try to put yourself in her shoes. She's really trying to break out of SmallestTown, USA. For her, this is a "do or die" situation. And given just how small the town she came from, she's probably not had much opportunity to work with other musicians.

It may not be that she's so "difficult to work with," but that she has certain standards (the kid who couldn't harmonize? -- I'd have a hard time with that myself, because all that really says is that "kid" isn't a musician at all). And that she's not dealing well with the pressure cooker of "group rounds," which is a good part, if not major part, of what "group rounds is about. Surprise, surprise.

If you truly liked her audition, I would hope that you give her another chance.

Oh, I will. But I went from "She's definitely my favorite" to "She's one of the few I like."

And it's just Idol and it's games, and it's not fair. I understand her frustration too. I wouldn't be happy with a kid that can't harmonize. And I also wouldn't be happy with someone saying I "gave up" on national television. So it's not her fault, really. It's just the way her personality came across.

And that's totally not fair. Like I said, Idol manipulates. I try to stay away from that (and usually don't watch Hollywood week) for that very reason. But I saw it..and came away with that impression.

I think part of my problem is also..because Idol manipulates. She got the unlikeable edit..which makes it harder for her to even stay around.

I looked at Twitter and FB posts directed to her. People who know her think it's the latter.

Right..it's one of the very many reasons that I have gotten frustrated with Idol and switched to The Voice.

What I remember is that I liked her tone and the character in her voice and I saw what I thought was potential.The total package looked promising as well.

First impressions are a lot of the time not gonna be very conclusive and I guess everyone can take away different things from them.


Edit-I wasn't sure which Jessica you were referring to but-speaking of first impressions at an audtion there was another girl-Jessica Bassett who didn't make it past her audition -who I also thought looked impressive.She got invited on to The Ellen Show which may be a first for a failed audition because Ellen thought she got robbed as well.She's also mentioned on this week's Idology.

disappointed melanie was cut (bet it was jlos doing) but theres still some decent female talent left. I still like Jess and Briana's growing on me too. Her voice during her group performance of royals was amazing.



If she picks some cool songs, she may just become my favourite.
