I seem to recall her field as being law?

That is correct, but that is after college. This week alone, I realized that the past three dentists I've had (my dentist in Pullman, while in graduate school, my main dentist here, and my current (and hopefully not long) periodontist (although a complete sweetheart), all have a music background. How bizarre is that?

haha, no I didn't. Psychology. Ironically, music has been my therapy my entire life. (And after reading about Angie wanting a career in music therapy, I wish I had known about that as a possible career path.)

I had a fantastic music program in high school though. I was really lucky. (I know that's really rare.) I had an incredible vocal teacher/coach. Music composition and Music tech classes. (One class, as a final project, I actually got to make my own soundtrack style song to a movie promo, and then edit the dialogue back in. Which was frustrating but really fun.) As well as music theatre. Like I said, I was really lucky to have that.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people can get...chased out of music or anything within the arts because it's not "practical." Irony being it's hard to get a job in "practical" areas, so people might as well try for what they are passionate about.

I really don't care about Idol this year or anymore. Just kinda watching for the motions of it and so I know what people are talking about. Too many changes and none of the contestants interest me this year. Season 10 was the best so these last few years after are boring for me now.

and after) the prove was the sold out tickets arena on AI tour that
year with no one canceled show and a 95% of attendants average
in any presentation.

^^^I agree with you mercfan, and 7 of the contestants were playing guitars. That's too many in my book. It distracts from just listening to their voices. And the band arrangements were sometimes louder that the contestants. Too bad.

My TV was on to AI, but I wasn't paying much attention. Was too busy reading all the comments on HF

Honestly, all ten of the should have brought their instruments out..and not allowed the band to play.

The contestants were bad. The band was worse.

Merc I know you know more than me when it comes to music, but I would have liked to hear the contestants sing without their guitars. Then we could concentrate more on their voices IMO. An occasional guitar is OK, but it seemed like everyone had one.

hahaha, yea I get what you mean. I'm not sure you would have wanted to hear the contestants voices tonight though.

It was just a trainwreck all over the place. Like..at least season 9 had Siobhan.

The sad thing is, I actually do think there are some talented kids there. But the band is overpower their voices. They are being steered towards horrible songs..and if they aren't terrible song choices, than their arrangements are terrible. And no one is helping any of them with their stage presence...which is what the guitar thing really is about.

Yes, your right about all being trainwrecks. I have to go back and listen to the performances again to pick out which ones were my favorites.(if there were any) I kept thinking as they were singing to turn up the microphones. The band definitely overpowered the singers.

But their makeup looked nice.
