OK guys,I'm agree with all your opinions because most of one time I want
write a post about the Haley's career but I never can write well what I
think about.The long post of Miguel and RMD are very clear for me but I
know how much smart is Haley then if she is taking her time for release a
movement surely have a reason for that.I believe in H.E.R.don't matter how
much time she need to move.

I agree things can take a lot of time and she could have reasons we know nothing about but can only guess - you do a good job and we enjoy your posts and passion about Haley - I know what you mean it is sometimes hard to put what you think into words.

I have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments, and agree with all of you. I am here for the long haul too, and will wait patiently (or impatiently) to find out what's next in Haley's musical journey!!

I have often wondered if there is something preventing Haley from doing something like this or joining a subscription service where we pay to help support her. Is it in a contract with her management company, or was it from Interscope that she can't tour or do certain things for a period of time after they dropped her?

I have no idea Babs-who is her manager now? Are she and Casey still with 19? This looks like it could be a place where they could sell some digital downloads from stage it performances. But probably only if it is their own songs. Now --I don't know if she could do this with Ole or not?

I remain very optimistic for Haley. While her career didn’t just take off instantly, she hasn’t had to get a job waiting tables to pay the rent. She has met artists she has admired all her life, performed with established artists, traveled to Asia and Europe, and so forth. She has worked with a variety of songwriters who have had songs do well. Great life experience and lots of fun and excitement. In some ways, she has been “paying her dues” but overall she has not had to pay the heavy tolls demanded of many struggling artists.

What has Haley accomplished?
-Significant exposure on AI with a memorable underdog story to go with it.
-A go round on making of a CD cycle, and the release of a CD she can be proud of (and she may sell more copies of that in the future than she has to this point).
-Connections of all sorts in the music industry and she has gained lots of respect and goodwill.
-A contract with Ole’ and the use of her songs in various media outlets including television programs, movies, and sports shows. She has a writing related revenue stream.
-She gained the respect of an established jazz musician and leader in the New Orleans music community through what was a “cold call” audition of sorts, wholly unrelated to the exposure she got on AI. That’s impressive and another connection.
(There are lots more to fill in, but I’m going move on.)

I’ve listened to the Stuck in London video that Casey put together numerous times and it always sets me thinking about Haley and Casey and their respective careers. The backup singers that performed on the video are their peers, and many probably fall in the struggling artist category. I’d guess that relative to most of these people, Haley and Casey have had a much easier and more successful go of it over the past couple years.

One reason that I’m optimistic for Haley – aside from her talent – is that there are a number of cards she hasn’t played yet. One, of course, is touring smallish venues. At this point in her career, I see this largely as a way for her to polish her performance skills. But smaller venues can lead to larger venues…. The BG Days show gave us a taste of what Haley can do with a live band.

Another card; video and other new media, could involve Casey or someone else. And perhaps she is making a play with it as she proceeds with her funky-ass project. But Casey is also a potentially great resource for her in various ways. In the notes for his SIL video, Casey credits himself as the director, editor, arranger, and main vocalist. He has many talented friends and he has many videos that he has made and posted on YT. I think he will do a lot of producing in his career and he will become very good at it. Haley could benefit from her relationship with Casey in different ways and I think they have just touched the surface of potential that is there.

From the perspective of a fan looking in on Haley’s life it is easy to feel that not much is happening. But Haley is living her life, and she stays busy and devoted. And after all, even the Beatles had to put in their 10,000 hours, playing in Hamburg and elsewhere before making it big.

I think most of you guys know what I think is happening w/ Haley right now, because I've said this on other threads, so this is going to be short.

I think Haley is (unofficially) being managed by Chiara & Boardwalk right now. Why Haley & Chiara haven't done anything more than hint at it IDK. It might have something to do w/ waiting for Haley's contract w/ 19 to run out (3yrs will be up in June or July).

Also, Chiara is mostly managing ZZ right now. Because she's in a promotional period, touring, media appearances etc. Where as Haley is in a creative period, writing/recording her next album. So Haley's working w/ writers & producers. If this is what's happening I don't see Haley touring until she's ready to promote a new EP or Album... but then lots of touring.

I think The Funky Reality Project is a side project Haley's doing. At least that's the impression I got from reading Himm's post after he spoke to Angie.

That's my guess anyway. I'm not going to bug Haley or Chiara to spill the beans or anything. I'm just going to see what plays out in 2014.

There is a story in the January issue of Utah Valley Magazine about Utah singer Mindy Gledhill who is thirty two years old and has pursued a musical career since her early twenties. I see Haley's struggles in Mindy's climb so I hope its worth a mention on the Forum. What I present will be quotes and paraphrases from the magazine. Oh, Mindy's wardrobe usually comes from cloths from the 40s 50s & 60s that she likes to find at yard sales.
Mindy released her 4th album in 2013 & performed to 40 sell-out crowds but it hasn't come easy. In high school she tryed out for concert choir and didn't make it. She auditioned for the dance team and was cut. Tryed out for the school musical, turned down. Moved on to BYU & was rejected by the Young Ambassadors & Latter-day Sound. Her first yes was acceptance into BYU's music program. She dropped her Spanish major & pursued her dream. She got a job selling smoothies so she could take singing lessons & buy entrance into Provo's Rosewood Recording Co. where she made her first professional recording tracks. "I did it for my own satisfaction...I was fascinated by recording."
Skipping along to shorten the story "Mindy has now released a total of four independent albums via her brand of vintage, quirky, colorful, bold, creative & feminine." She started her own company Blue Morph Music. She say's one of her long-term dreams is to give flight to other artists with her passion for branding, styling & Freedom from musical strings. "I love owning music & being in control of all the decisions. Nobody has a greater interest in what I do than myself."
Today she has grassroot followings from the Pacific Northwest to Arizona & pockets in Asia. Her marketing plan is getting in tune with fans online. She has 2 million views on YouTube and says, "I don't monetize on YouTube, but it helps to see a visual representation and it's connection to my music, it helps fans see the message I'm trying to get across, and it's another way for people to discover who I am." ....thanks Tusk, Rachael, Himm & others, your so important right now... YouTube build her international base especially in Asia. Her first international distribution deal was put together over MySpace & took her music to Korea. She had a No 1 single on there version of iTunes for two weeks beating out Rihanna & Beyonce. This led her to Japan where she's toured & performed for her Asian fans who love "Crazy Love" & "All the Pennies" "The Japanese love cute things, and my music and brand are quirky." Asian music-lovers also love buyiung hard-copy CDs more than iTune loving Americans.
Mindy future goals include her own tour bus. She envisions sponsors for the restoration of the music mobile, which will be documented via social media. She envisions taking her bus to elementary schools where kids could come on board and play with the instruments & experiment with sounds & beat.
Mindy's recording company might be a option Haley could look at. Because she owns her own company she has put out 4 solo albums, the first one was a wash because of start up expense but the rest have made money. She has distribution contracts in Japan, Taiwan & Korea. Her songs have been featured on "So You Think You Can Dance," "20/20," "Bones," & "Jane by Design." She is commissioned to write music for Fruit of the Loom commercial.
From your blogs I know Haliens are in the game untill the end, stay strong & Haley, never, never, never give up. Mindy's journey has been ten years & it's just taking flight.

^ Thanks Airhigh...I really liked what you wrote and its application to Haley finding her own way. What a great collection of Haliens we have here...all insightful comments and reflections on Haley's journey, along with thoughts for her future.

I still recall one of Haley's early comments in an Idol interview, and I'm paraphrasing..."I've just been focusing on the right side of the brain so that I wouldn't have to focus on the left side."

Haley is artistic, creative, not tech savvy and young...along with so many other lovely characteristics. Being an "old soul" and raised by musical parents from the 60s & 70s, the paradigm of selling music has radically changed even though the timelessness of making great music has not. I continue to listen to what she has produced thus far and my opinion has not changed...Haley is so unique and yet so classic that time will only confirm her incredible talent with all of us and the new fans she acquires.

It seems the only question is how does she acquire these new fans. The path to a broad appeal among music lovers is so diverse today that formulas no longer work. The one aspect that seems to be missing is her self-promotion. Isn't there one tech savvy fan/friend/family member/industry insider that is willing to step up and help her with the social media side of promoting herself? Many here have pointed out how other less well known artists have worked their way to success in this fragmented music industry. Haley could use some help just navigating the networks that are available today, to keep her more visible and more fan friendly, for that success we all want her to have.

Bottom line...through the Halien rose colored goggles I'm wearing, Haley is already a wonderful success! We just want others to realize it too!
