Grueling, hours-long practices for ABC's Dancing with the Stars may feel like a hefty commitment to some, but for Mark Ballas, it's just a day job. At night, the 29-year-old Texas native returns home to his girlfriend, singer-songwriter BC Jean, to record tracks for their forthcoming untitled EP. She asked me how #Haliens came about, I told her at the beginning, there were many that were put out, but over time, "Haliens" stuck...kind of happened organically, Haley didn't chose it, in fact I'm not sure what Haley thought of it at first LOL

Yes, I started off as a Halo during her season over at the AI Forums on Fox, I was over at Idolforums too, but spent more time chatting at the other place as a Halo. After the season was over, and Haley seemed to know Haliens, I was happy to call myself one.

Haley started following James Bell on Instagram, a young guitar prodigy who Anders Grahn apparently came over from the UK to help produce

The guy is just a kid, maybe 17 or 18? I've listened to some of his videos on YT and he has a great edge to his sound, a sharpness. If Haley decided to leave the Jazz world and dabble in a little rock and roll, I would totally approve if these two got together. I've decided if I get a chance, I'd definitely go see him perform Live....

I actually think I may have found the first reference to the term Halien (spelled Haleyon) in this comment dated March 31, 2011 from username "Truth" to a Michael Slezak TV Line American Idol Recap.

Anders Grahn is working with James Bell, who is apparently working on an album (he sings too). Haley knows Anders.

But how does Ashley Greene (Twilight) know them? In her Instagram, she tagged them: "@jamesbellx @grahna #guitarprodigy..."

Where were they at?

btw, James was recording in Nightbird Studios. Oddly enough, it's located in the basement of a hotel.

The story goes, writer / producer Jed Leiber and famed guitarist Jeff Beck were staying in the Sunset Marquis Hotel in the early 1990's, and were writing and performing in their hotel room. After some noise complaints, the General Manager of the hotel offered them a laundry room in the basement, where they could make as much noise as they wanted. What started as a temporary room, turned into a destination for rock stars and the like to come hang, and make records. Jed saw the opportunity to build a fully developed recording studio, just steps from the famous bar, and luxurious pool at the Sunset Marquis.

My first time playing a mandolin and meeting this amazing singer, Haley Reinhart !! Hoping to see the full version soon and to write with her back in L.A.
