Quote:Jordie Lane Album Release Show w/ Robby Hecht & Caroline Spence

...The much loved Australian indie roots artist, who recently moved from Melbourne to LA to Nashville, is malleable and resilient despite the torrent of changes that have come his way. His upcoming release, GLASSELLLAND, out September 7 worldwide, combines the desert Tropicalia influences of his homeland with the modern Southwestern folk of his new home.

Produced by Clare Reynolds (Timbaland, Haley Reinhart, Greyson Chance), the two created GLASSELLLAND in teardown transitory studios, which they built and deconstructed in varying spaces in Northeast Los Angeles. “With the studio doubling as a kitchen, and no door to the bedroom, there was really no escaping the music.” On top of building the studio space, they also engineered and played every sound on the album, making the endeavor highly personal. ...

Not sure what that means with respect to Haley's involvement

Clare and Jordie are back in LA, they're having an album release show this Saturday at the Hotel Cafe. I'd tweeted out the heads up because IMO there's a chance Haley might make an appearance, it looks like she was writing w/ Clare today, she reposted out a clip from @hausmusicproduction of Haley singing w/ Clare on the Piano

A first for my channel, I'm reposting Angela's boyfriend's (Alex) video, on my channel Cool

When I was in Chicago for P.A.V.E. I got to talk to Alex for a good amount of time after the show. We talked a little about music, I said some encouraging words, how much I liked his video, the message behind it, how I hoped Neil DeGrasse Tyson might notice when I tweeted it to him..... eventually I offered to post it on my channel and he accepted

He couldn't find the original file so sent me a download file from Youtube which was only 60mb large, so not large at all. So I did my thing w/ lower resolution video, shrinking the size, bringing up contrast, saturation and sharpness.

Instead of the black bars around the video from shrinking it, I found a high resolution star scape as the background, more interesting, and had the camera zooming in ever so slowly throughout the video.... so it appears as if the stars are moving (blinking?) or you're moving into the stars? Tongue

Bonus is Alex also sent me better HQ audio that he made some adjustments to since he posted the original video Smile

A Pale Blue Dot

"This excerpt from Sagan's book Pale Blue Dot was inspired by an image taken, at Sagan's suggestion, by Voyager 1 on February 14, 1990. As the spacecraft left our planetary neighborhood for the fringes of the solar system, engineers turned it around for one last look at its home planet. Voyager 1 was about 6.4 billion kilometers (4 billion miles) away, and approximately 32 degrees above the ecliptic plane, when it captured this portrait of our world. Caught in the center of scattered light rays (a result of taking the picture so close to the Sun), Earth appears as a tiny point of light, a crescent only 0.12 pixel in size."

Quote:Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.

ICYMI Morgan James recorded a cover of the Beatles' entire The White Album and produced a unique video presentation of her performing the whole album Cool

Quote:Paste can exclusively share Morgan James’ album-length, live-illustrated accompaniment to her forthcoming cover of The Beatles’ White Album, released in honor of the album’s 50th anniversary.

The video features live animation and drawings from illustrator Noel Carey while James performs the Fab Four’s most inscrutable and enigmatic album live from cover to cover. While James sings from the front of the stage, Carey scribbles away, his illustrations appearing projected over the stage. Everything from impressionistic shapes to Beatles symbology to the faces of the band members themselves appear in Carey’s ever-expanding labyrinth of lines.
“I had a vision of a completely illustrated video to accompany my full album cover of the White Album,” James tells Paste. “I joined forces with the brilliant Noel Carey, who created an entirely improvised lyric video and artistic journey through the Beatles melodies and lyrics. Each song is a drawing, and all the drawings connect to one giant drawing telling the story. It was a challenge to cover the whole album, and I wanted an equally ambitious video to go with it!”
