With the lack of rehearsal time, do you think he was ready to jump in if she struggled? I wondered that too until I was making the video, I remembered that was the one song they tried to rehearse to. If you listen to the beginning of their arrangement of Night and Day, it's different from the way it normally starts. I think Dave was there to give Haley the cue for when to start. He left the stage after the extra musical interlude, then went as the song usually goes. I could be wrong though..

It does seems he was up there to help her with timing and such. It also appeared to me she was planning to end at abouit 3:05 but the band kept going and she moved right into a little scatting. But while Dave was up there it was distracting.

Haley at her scatting finest! and I love the reactions of all around her...she even made that curly dark haired lady shut up for a few minutes to appreciate what Haley was doing!
I'll be honest-I'm not normally a huge fan of scat singing.Too often to me, it can be overdone or show-offy but Haley did some very interesting things here and it was nice hearing the crowd appreciate that.I'm really impressed with how mature she's sounding as a jazz singer.

He was definitely cueing her entrances, and wasn't at all subtle about it.
