The nice thing about it being so far out -- 11 months -- is that it gives us a chance to score good deals on airfare and hotel once we nail down when Mayfield will be at Carnegie Hall. I've only been to NYC once, on business for a few days. I had a room at the Four Seasons hotel and walked a few blocks to work. The room was billed at a corporate rate of $325 a night, but I'm sure there are better deals to be had. It was a great experience and it would have been even more special if I had seen a performance at Carnegie Hall.

I woke up this morning thinking "Baby It's Cold Outside" might be what spurred Mayfield to make the offer. If he's like me, he can't get Haley singing, "I really can't stay" out of his head.

The whole Mayfield/Reinhart relationship is a testament to social media. Haley got good buzz on the Internet from performing with him and when he decided to reach out to her it made it easy for him to contact her. If they do play Carnegie Hall together, that will really be something.

(I suspect Haley's response will be delayed because the minion running her twitter will pass it up the line to the management at 19E and they will then have to decide how to reply)

I was thinking the same thing about BICO. Her voice is just wonderful on that song. And I did a quick YouTube search on Irvin Mayfield -- guess which of his videos has the most plays (hint: it's from September). Perhaps he can bring her some respect from the jazz community, and she can help him reach a broader audience. (And, of course, I think they could make some great music together.)

Pretty awesome? That would be a one in A million chance of a lifetime to be able to sing with Irving Mayfield, JR at Carnegie Hall . I'm sure by now her management team has gotten wind of this and they are going to encourage her to do it. It makes me wonder. Doing That little jazz gig in New Orleans really set the stage for her?
