^^ Don't know what to make of that. Maybe they haven't really talked? Haley's people haven't been responsive? He's reached out to her several times.

It is odd that he would keep tweeting about this. It seems that whether is was a go or not they would communicate privately. He's already played this hand, but who knows, his musical scene might be pretty informal in many ways.

Actually, John, there are many tunes from that Marsalis/Mayfield album that Haley could sing (and probably already has, just not) with Mayfield. I find a certain irony in Ellis Marsalis recording an album with another trumpeter (other than his "oh so famous son" Wynton), but from the brief snippets of each cut, I liked what I heard, and will probably end up adding this to my music collection. Thank you John! (I'm a former trumpet player myself, and I can be fairly persnickety about what I like.)

In his (Mayfield) wiki bio it's mentioned that he turned down a scholarship from Julliard to study under Ellis M.'s jazz program at the U of NO. He and the Marsalis family seemed to very close; Wynton was his roommate in NYC at one point.

I've surely watched this performance more than 200 times, I am really hoping for a collaboration. That whole performance was magic happening. I think I have every part of it memorized, from audience comments and reactions, to Irvins many facial expressions, haha. And of course Haley's vocal journey.
