Yeah, but what could be better than that, something for the eyes like a good video something for the ears like her highly anticipated single.Haliens, just a few more days and we will be able to start experiencing what we all been waiting for.

Hey....just a thought. Maybe the gig she was talking about in that video above was the filming of her video?

I was just about to post the notion that another possibility for the video is that her first single has a dance groove and that they possibly filmed the video in New York because there are a lot of dancers there.

Given Mozella's tweet from 11/29, there's a good chance one of those songs may be the first single.



"Get Yourself Together" sounds like a good song to be released around the time people are making New Year's resolutions.

The thing that I'd like to know is what is the prelude to this. If her single is ready to be released, then I'm just wondering how her management company is going to go about promoting this. Will there be a lot of hype on the Internet and on the radio? I have a feeling there gointo promote video first. But I don't know I can't be sure it sounds logical to me that they would do it but then on the other hand the video and single will go hand-in-hand. According to Haley and her mother her single is ready to bust out any day. So the question I'm asking is will it be on the radio. Can you buy it on iTunes? Or is there a big promotional step that has to be done? Somebody help me out on this one there needs to be a lot of different things happening. Before we can really hear the finished product. It's all part of the journey, and it's all part of being fans. Very cool. Happy new year.

I'm sure it will be available for purchase online. But radio airplay is a big driver for record sales. And getting a song played on the radio isn't as easy as it used to be.

2006:

State Attorney General Spitzer today announced a settlement with UMG Recording Inc., ("Universal") the world’s largest record label company, to end its pervasive "pay-for-play" practices. Under terms of the settlement, Universal, a subsidiary of Vivendi Universal which owns Island Def Jam, Interscope, Universal Motown Recordings Group, Uni-South, Universal Nashville and Verve, has agreed to stop making payments and providing expensive gifts to radio stations and their employees in return for "airplay" of particular artists’ songs.

...During the investigation, a promotion executive at Interscope acknowledged that he was trained to "never say no to radio" and to "keep the lines of communication open, to have access." The executive said that providing promotional support to the radio stations increased the airplay of Interscope’s artists.
Universal’s pay-for-play strategy included:

Outright bribes to radio station programmers, including electronics, vacations, airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets to sporting events and concerts;
Payments to radio stations to cover operational expenses and contest giveaways;
Retention of middlemen, known as independent promoters (or "indies"), as conduits for illegal payments to radio stations;
Payments for "spin programs" and "time buys," airplay under the guise of advertising.

One thing Haley has going for her is a planned return to American Idol to perform the single. I found some site -- that I can't find now -- that said calling on radio station programming directors and pointing to planned local appearances or other newsworthy events was one way to get them to play a song.

About a month ago I was looking at the twitter feed of the entertainment-industry lawyer (Dina) that handles Steven Tyler, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina and Haley (as well as others). I was surprised to see she was close to a programming director in Dallas. So close she apparently stays at his home at times. It seemed from their tweets that she planned to bring James by in January for an on-air interview before a minor local appearance.

So a publicity tour might coincide with the release of a single (but touring as a musician putting on concerts at bigger venues only happens after you have a big hit or two).

no i guess it isnt. I stopped listening to mainstream radio a long time ago. The only thing that I really listen to. Now it's classic rock there's not too many stations that play it. I remember when the Rolling Stones put out a single (I can't get no satisfaction) that song played every 20 min. on the radio for weeks on end. So yeah you talk about your promotional radio. Everything now is digital, you have iTunes, you have Rhapsody radio, there's Pandora and a plethora of many more. So for Haley to have her single he played on the radio. It's good to take a lot of finagling and bending from her management company. If that is all possible. I don't know what kind of influence they have on mainstream radio. But if by chance her single is a hit and she will be able to promote tours and concerts. This is her first real year. As far as making music goes professionally so we will see what is in store for her all the best of luck to you girl.

Well, given the different audiences, this may not matter, but I remember seeing an online article last spring, probably close to the end of the AI10 season, wherein the topic was those working at country radio stations and how they did not plan to play/wanted to not be in the station when TPTB came around promoting play of Scotty's and Lauren's recordings. Yet both seem to have gotten enough coverage/play to help sell their albums. (Scotty's even won an award -- seriously??)

Maybe we need to use Haley's example of positive thinking and operate from that viewpoint.
