As of a week after her death, the total number of Amy Winehouse albums that had been sold was about 2.65 million units in the U.S., with "Back To Black," accounting for 2.3 million of those sales. Her songs had been scanned 3.38 million times in the U.S., with "Rehab" leading the way at 1.4 million.

Corinne Bailey Rae is an artist Haley looks up to. Her most popular video on YouTube, "Put Your Records On," was posted in September 2006. It has 5,981,263 views. Her next most popular video was posted in October 2007 . It has 1,156,297 views.

The view counts for Corinne and Esperanza are not that high compared to the biggest female stars. Haley's Idol videos and view counts for "Free" rival them. And that's with Corinne having two hit singles on her debut album.

The audience for Haley's music may be smaller than we like. The music that is critically acclaimed is not typically the music that garners the most attention (Adele being the clear exception). The attention it does receive is typically sparked by a hit single.

Haley needs a hit. Once she gets that people will check out the other songs and the album itself could become a smash.

For reference, Kellie Pickler had a 27k debut the week of January 24th (7th on BB200). She sold 1k albums this week, bringing her total to 73k. Barring a game-changing smash single (as Miguel mentioned earlier), I think Haley will probably be right around that number in total sales when all is said in done, too.

Haley's music should have more international appeal than Kellie Pickler's.
It could be Haley first catches fire overseas.

The mistake from a sales/marketing perspective was the long wait. Haley had her album finished by early January. Free was recorded in August. She had BICO hit in November, could have rode that and her still-fresh Idol cred by dropping Free for adds in January, and then Listen Up! in March. The added months of darkness pushed Haley completely out of the public's consciousness, and her sales probably plummeted by 50% as a result.

I think 19/Interscope kinda screwed her. That said, sales are not as important as the quality of the product. Her album is fantastic, and even if it tanks and the label boots her she'll still land on her feat and make it work. No doubt about it.

I know some people at a certain blog are speculating Interscope will drop Haley. I don't believe that. They want it to happen, which is why we want killer numbers out of the gate.

I think "Free" hasn't done as well as they expected and Interscope is reloading now. Like many reviews mention, Listen Up! makes a great summer album. I really feel all that's needed is more awareness.

Regarding what the label does, meh...I have no idea and frankly don't care. I'm a fan of Haley, not Interscope or 19, so if she moves on I follow her. If she stays so do I. I'm fine either way. All I care about is the music and Haley, not the label on the package.

That said, I do recognize when Haley is getting 3rd tier treatment. The WAY late single/album drop, the miniscule promotion, the lack of a tour, the lack of scheduled events for the summer...I see it, I know what they're doing, and I'm not happy about it.

Still, like I said before, I've got my album, it's sensational, so ultimately I'm happy despite all the bad management bullshit.

Just outside the top 10, "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips' "Journey to the Finale" album debuts at No. 11 with 24,000. The set is exclusively sold via the iTunes Store.

Phillips isn't the only "Idol" making waves on the Billboard 200 chart this week though, as 2011 contestant Haley Reinhart's debut album "Listen Up!" starts at No. 17 with 20,000. At No. 21, the "American Idol Season 11 - Top 2 Season Finale" EP bows with 18,000. Further down the list, 2009 winner Kris Allen sees his sophomore set, "Thank You Camellia," debut at No. 26 with 17,000. This year's runner-up, Jessica Sanchez, enters at No. 126 with her own "Journey to the Finale" album with 4,000.

I've started to wonder if some of the above stated negatives could be directly related to Kraig Fox's ouster as COO at CKx? He was, I believe, according to tHR, heavily active in promoting Haley before they changed up and sacked him. The new president that came in January, may have influenced the slowdown in Haley's promotion and that could have all tied in with Fox. I've never seen or heard of any Red Light/19 etc.. comments.
