RE: "BLACK HOLE SUN" - new (June 2016) PMJ video

I agree with your observation John. I'd just add mid range for a Haley PMJ video, maybe on par with "Oops!". It seems views for new PMJ videos in general have been decreasing lately. The last video to reach 1M was "Sorry" released Feb 18. The last to reach 2M was "Mad World" released last December. The last non-Haley related video to reach 2M was 'Halo' released October 22, 2015. Not sure why. Could be the addition of so many new one time vocalists. One video may not be enough to build a following. I think Scott recognizes the decreased interest which could be why he's Periscoping 4 or 5 times a week. I think bringing back Haley is a major boost. A Morgan video could help also. Not having any of the of the "big names" touring though could be a problem however.

...There are often naysayers... but they typically stay quite civil.
Some people have their sacred songs, bands and singers and will complain about a cover no matter what. That seems particularly true in the world of grunge music (broadly defined) or songs of alienation by alienated type artists.
I saw many share comments that were from fans of the original who were "prepared to hate it," and many comments from people who thought the style was inappropriate. They often allowed though that the singer was undeniably talented. I suppose that mature response is a result of performing older songs whose biggest fans are now in their forties.
I was surprised the bigger media outlets didn't pick up the story too. I think some of that is PMJ fatigue (one sharer commented noted they were over PMJ, but felt Haley's cover of BHS warranted a mention). Or it might be because the response on social media is middle of the road for a Haley video (they like to hop on the bandwagon, not start one).

Insanely good. Just ridiculously perfect. Chris Cornell always grabs my ear, and this arrangement reveals his genius in a slightly different light. Raymond Sabatello, Jeanne O'Connor, Ethan Meixsell, James Keepnews, Stephanie Carlin, all musical friends, what do you think?

Cool! I love the arrangement and the original song, despite terrestrial radio pummeling me with it. Possibly the last harmonically interesting single in US history.

Doug, My son Tim plays in this band, he is the "Tambourine Guy".
Quote:Cly Boehs This is so perfect, as you say Doug! Does she record? Torch singer doesn't even begin to describe her performance and the band is just a delight.

Wow -- totally stunning rendition, loved the string arrangement. Excellent creative singer. Actually, I am a big fan of Chris Cornell's singing -- what a unique voice he has!
