Haley's (not-soon-to-be-released) single

Indications are the release of Haley's first single is imminent. I'm sure we will want to discuss it when it does drop, so I have created this thread for all things single related. To begin, I've pulled a few things previously posted and added something new at the bottom of this post.

As the record nears completion, the A&R (artists & repertoire) department works closely with the artist to determine if the record is acceptable to the record company...A key issue is whether the album has a single: a particular track which can be used to market the record on radio.

Which led me to speculate:

What might the news be? Could it be this will be the first single Haley releases?

In this brief video posted on Facebook on December 5th, Haley says her first single will hopefully be coming out "any second now."



Yesterday, someone retweeted the picture the "West Coast editor of Paper Magazine" took of Haley at the opening of the G-Star denim store on Rodeo drive and he posted this in response:

The Chicago Sun-Times published this on November 18th:

“I did watch a little bit (of the X-Factor) in the beginning, though I must say I think ‘Idol’ is a lot more authentic,” she said. “Hey, I’m still rooting for my show! I hope to be back on this spring.

“The timing could be perfect — hopefully, it will be just as my album is being released,” she said, laughing.

I just noticed she recently added Uncle Nigel to those she follows on Twitter:



An indication, I think, that she is planning to return to the show and perform her new single.

Last night on IF Himm2 reported:

A few minutes before midnight tonight at PS Pub Patti announced that Haley will have a single and a video out in about two weeks. She also told the friend I went with (Haley & Angie's Teacher and Track coach) that she heard the songs from the album and was very excited about it. Same genres of what we've been told, motown influence, some sultry blues, retro, etc. Much of which is her own lyrics.

Yeah I saw that earlier this morning. Wonderful news. So we can expect a press release I'm assuming coming soon to announce her upcoming new single being released. I'm wondering if they already did the video? Anyway, it was a long wait, but it is finally almost over. Halleluiah.

I'm thinking they did or else the timeline would be mighty short. We didn't hear any reports of any video shoots though, which makes me think the video might not be that elaborate. Unless the song is called "Wonderland" and it involves a lot of animation.

The timing of the release of the single seems to coincide with the start of the next season of American Idol. This could be smart publicity wise because some stories about the start of the show could include updates about past contestants.

Hey....just a thought. Maybe the gig she was talking about in that video above was the filming of her video?
